If the key is in the column- then does it come with a key? Then does the wipers/turnsignal switch work?

How would the junk yard know whether it will work when its installed in a car? They certainly didn't test the junk car it came out of. They will simply say "if it doesn't work, bring it back and we'll give you another one". But by then you will already have wasted all the labor to install it in your car. The money's in the labor, not the part in many cases. You might be better off repairing the steering wheel you have now, since the air bag is a separate issue anyways.

Age relating to mileage on car is important indicator of wear. Also need to ask if air bag is removed or intact, as special training is required to remove and install theses safely. Sometimes they just deactivate and remove and then put covers back so it looks intact.
