stroke has some-more to do with rpm toleration than rod designbecause cadence determines a piston speed during TDC.
The joining rod is underneath a many highlight when a when a piston is halted during TDC after roving to a tip of a bore.

Shot peening as good as improved rod bolts will enlarge tired boundary as well.
Remember,.. a rod is stressed a many during “TDC” during a empty stroke. Its literally being stretched.
